The Opportunity

Ohio is investing in the future of work

In 2025, Ohio approved $25.2 million in TechCred funding to prepare workers for the AI-driven economy. With bi-monthly application windows, employers across the state can access this funding to train their workforce in AI literacy.

Why AI literacy matters: MIT research shows that 92% of AI pilots fail—not due to technology limitations, but because of inadequate human preparation. AI literacy is the key to successful adoption.

Ohio has the opportunity to become a national leader in workforce AI readiness. This isn't just about technology—it's about ensuring every Ohio worker can thrive in the economy of tomorrow.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about TechCred funding and getting started.

Is this really 100% reimbursed?

Yes. TechCred is a state workforce development program that reimburses employers up to $2,000 per employee for approved technology credentials. You pay upfront, employees complete training, and you submit for reimbursement. Typically receive payment within 60-90 days.

What if I don't get approved—am I out the cost?

Critical: DO NOT start training before approval. Training must begin on or after the effective date (1st of month before application window). If you start too early, you cannot be reimbursed. Wait for your approval before enrolling employees.

Do I have to use RUDI for training?

No. You can use any TechCred-approved training provider. Upskill Ohio features RUDI as our primary partner because of their comprehensive AI literacy framework, but employers are free to choose other approved providers. See approved training partners →

How competitive is TechCred approval?

Applications are evaluated based on credential relevance, business impact, and cost-effectiveness. Results typically come 30-45 days after the window closes. With proper documentation and a clear business case, many employers are approved. We help with application support to maximize your chances.

Can small businesses with just a few employees apply?

Absolutely. Any Ohio employer with W-2 employees qualifies—from 1 employee to 10,000+. Small businesses, nonprofits, and public employers are all eligible. You can train up to 15 employees per application window.

What if I miss an application window?

There are 6 application windows per year (bi-monthly). If you miss one, you can apply in the next window. The November 2025 window opens November 3rd. View full 2025 calendar →
